Found this colourful moth on the old shed door. I have never ssen one like this before but I really liked the markings and the colour!
Arrghh.. me maties! Welcome to Skull Island!
This makes me think of pirates and skull and crossbones. Well... the skull part anyway.
I am in the process of starting a new Occupational Health and Safety business and have developed a very short easy survey to give me a better idea as to the needs of business. If you have any decision making with Health and Safety in your company could you please help out by filling in the survey? It would greatly assist me. Thank you all in advance! This is the link here.
The Temperature is 36 Celcius and climbing. The humidity is unbearable. I would love to be back where we were on the weekend in Georgian Bay amongst the ancient rocks. The water was actually cold! The swimmer and the rocks reflections caught my eye here. I like the earth tones and just a swath of green in the back ground.
Beat the heat by checking out Watery Wednesday! Outdoor Wednesday has lots of fun photo!
I love going to Georgian Bay on Lake Huron! The water, colour, and scenery never cease to thrill me!
Today the lakefront was the busiest I have seen it due to the long weekend, but we walked along the waterfront and found a fairly secluded spot due in part to climbing a couple of rock cliffs some were reluctant to go over. This is part of the Niagara Escarpment and the whole area is made up of limestone. The nature of limestone is to fracture into plates and this is what you see along the shoreline. Different depths all surrounded by limestone rock. A shallow area like this can suddenly drop off into an abyss 50 feet deep or more.
It certainly provides for extremely interesting and really fun swimming areas. Today the water was very cold so it took awhile to get in but once in you were so frozen you failed to notice how cold it was! This was probably the coldest I have experienced there. The day was hot so the water was inviting regardless!
My 7 year old grandaughter was loving it! Quite different from the family pool and lots more fun to explore.
The wonderful aquas, blues and greens come from the reflection of the sun on the white limestone under water.
My older grandaughter, daughter in law and I take to the heights for a better view.
We arrived at 2:30 pm and left just after 8:00 pm. This is the veiw going over the cliffs on the way back. At the stone beachbeyond there is a trail through the bush back to the car. About a 20 min hike through the bush. Adieu, Georgian Bay. Until another day!
A recent trip to the cottage found this "Fire in the Sky". It transfered well to the water too!
Wonderful Sky shots from the world over at Skywatch Friday!
Happy Canada Day
I will be going to town to enjoy all the festivities today. In the Glen Williams park, a little hamlet which is part of Georgetown they have day long festivities. Parades, fireworks, games and of course food!
A Favorite treat of many Canadians on Canada Day is a Beaver Tail!
No, not that kind of Beaver Tail , this kind! A pastry sprinkled with sugar.
Everyone is welcome to come down and join the festivities! Canada Day is a family affair.
So get off your duffs and go and enjoy the wonderful weather and Canada Day in your area! Like Christmas, it only comes once a year!
OVERVIEW OF CANADA DAY
Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada) is Canada's national holiday. It is celebrated on July 1.
HISTORY OF CANADA DAY
It celebrates the creation of the Dominion of Canada through the British North America Act 1867, which came into effect on July 1, 1867, uniting three British territories the Province of Canada (southern Ontario and southern Quebec), Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a federation. (See Canadian Confederation.)
The holiday itself was formally established in 1879 and was originally called Dominion Day, making reference to the Canadian-originated term 'dominion' to describe the political union, at a time when the Fathers of Confederation were hesitant to use a name such as the Kingdom of Canada. The name was changed to Canada Day on October 27, 1982.
