There is a waterfalls on the way home from the cottage, just off HWY 11. Part of the river is directed into a hydro dam and the other part goes over the rocks to form a falls. There is a bridge going over it for bikes, walkers and snowmobiles.
This is the river flowing into the falls
The view as it flows over the man made water restriction to direct water to the hydro dam. In the middle of the pic you can see the chute the water will flow through into the hydro damn.
As it flows over this abutment, so uniform, glistening in the sunlight, instead of decreasing the beauty it actually adds to it.
Going over the rock face, it splits into two falls, both beautiful. The drop is about 40 feet.
The other side of the falls.
And a small one, way down below.
Hi Lorac
I wonder how much wear there is on the rocks from the continual flow of water...
Happy days
Hi Delwyn! The rock is granite, very hard rock but has been worn smooth over time. When standing close to the larger falls you can feel the spray.
Delwyn - hey rocks can cope and the erosion looks good on them ;-)
Lorac - thanks for another beautiful insight into your amazing country
Hi Val!Love to have you over. Stop by any time!
Lovely shots, Thanks for visiting My Muskoka!
