SkyWatch Friday~ Blue Skies

SkyWatch Friday
We finally were hammered with winter and the snow hasn't stopped for three days. The high winds and extremely low temperatures (-19C) have made the roads treacherous with white outs and drifting snow. Police have been warning people to stay off the roads and many a hapless driver have found themselves in a road side ditch. In the north it has been declared a snow emergency and up 100cm is expected there.

Through all this, it is still impossible to refute the beauty when a storm pauses for a brief moment. The sky opens to a blue only known against against a a snow ridden landscape. For awhile, I was in the Winter Wonderland.

A sky that has been shy of the sun for days, welcomes the sun this day

Blue sky, hanging above me....nothing but blue sky

There are many more skies at SkyWtch Friday. Go see great hosts and posts!

SkyWatch Friday

The sun lights Golden skies with it's final breath of the day.

I was driving into this sunset and had to stop . I couldn't keep my eyes on the road. That brilliant orb was blinding in it's last light and the colours were so intense, but different from the colours I usually see in a sunset. The land had already given up it's light and colour for the day and the contrast was stark.

SkyWatch Friday!

Once again it is
SkyWatch Friday!

At the cottage this weekend we saw this "Rock Cut" hole at Ragged Falls in Dwight. My first thought was of SkyWatch Friday. The reflection of the sky in the water of this naturally made hole was unique. Thousands of years ago the river was much higher and larger. This hole was created by a vortex of water swirling rocks around.
I love old churches! Of course we don't have old churches as they do overseas, ours only being 100 plus but to us there are old. I have particularly liked this one and the sky was perfect!

I always look for reflections. I think the double image they show is perfect for Sky Watch Friday.

Finally one from just at dusk tonight. This is bitter sweet. The Canadian Geese flying in such large flocks already and in "V" formation foretells of an early autumn here. They are getting ready to fly south. I love Autumn but we haven't even had any summer yet! It has been an unusually cool summer.
