SkyWatch Friday

Posted by Lorac Friday 12 March 2010

 SkyWatch Friday!
Clear blue skies over the Crawford Lake 15th century Iroquoian Village. Inside are tools, animal hides and the smell of smoke which let you experience the life and times of Ontario’s First Peoples. These long houses are a complete reconstruction of the originals.

The spirits still sing in the rustic longhouses.

For many beautiful skies the world over go to SkyWatch Friday!

  1. Hi Lorac,
I enjoyed the clear blue sky with the long houses, snow, and melting snow. Thanks for the nice comment on my SkyWatch post.

  3. Very nice--I grew up next to the Seneca Res on the Allegheny River headwaters. Nice to see this sense of culture & history remembered.

PS: Powder snow packs very tightly, I think because of the geometry of the crystals--an avalanche, plow, or grooming machine will set it up very tightly (even though you can't make a snowball out of it). But moguls skiing are formed naturally, too, as the wind works the snow, like sand formed into ripples and dunes.
