Just a couple of weeks ago the skies were blue and the colour was fantastic!

All the leaves are down now and we have been getting a lot of foggy mornings.

The forecast is snow for the weekend! Have a happy SkyWatch Friday!

Summer days are almost at an end. Soon these trees will all be orange and red and the field plowed for next year.  Fall is in the air already. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago when summer was in her best attire. I love the mustard coloured fields. Such a gorgeous colour!

Go see all the wonderful skies at  SkyWatch Friday!  Scenes from all over the globe a t Scenic Sunday.

We are seeing a lot more sun now. Temperatures are on the rise and snow is melting. The birds are returning once again, singing in the morning. I am on the lookout  for the first Robin. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets at this time of year. With the time change we are seeing a lot more daylight and I am looking forward to spring this Sunday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!

Big Sky!
I took this just a mere four weeks ago. The weather changes so fast from November to December. As we have nothing to look at right now, it's just gray skies and no snow, I thought I would post a nicer picture for SkyWatch Friday from my archives.

Many more skies from the world over at SkyWatch Friday!

Today it felt like summer again. I went out for a ride and came across this gorgeous area. I stumble across it every once in a while and then remember it's beauty.

The Scotch Block Resevoir  on a warm autumn day.

Just shots taken while sitting on the deck in the backyard enjoying the season! The weather this summer has been hot, hot, hot! Now for August we are seeing cooler nights and a little less humidity.

There have been many brilliant sunsets this summer. Probably due to the hot muggy weather.

Amazing how calming a night like this is!
Go to SkyWatch Friday for many wonderful skies. Wonderful hosts, amazing posts!

SkyWatch Friday

We had the best November weather wise that we have had for many years. Not to much rain , above seasonal temperatures and most importantly, no snow. Now in December we have had only rain! Huge rainclouds and rain pelting down leaving little mini river-lets.

The sky was very dark this day. Rain had come in droves for s few hours.

Finally, there was a bit of sun that shone through illuminating the hills in the distance.

Graced me with the presence of a rainbow.

Blue peeks through the rain laden grey clouds,

Clouds so high they kiss the sun!

Skywatch Friday -Getting Some Air

SkyWatch Friday
It was a grey rainy day. Outside the window looked damp and dull but I couldn't take it any longer. I had to get out for a walk. I went to grab my camera but wondered what I would take pictures of at this time of year with this weather? I grabbed it anyway thinking of all the beautiful blogs that show such wonderful flowers, plants and spring time on the other side of the world. Maybe, I could get something at least interesting to look at. Maybe!

A puddle at the entrance to the clay pit affords us a glimpse of the sky in it's reflection.

We go past the old lonely barn with it's rusty red roof and silo. Sad to see this once useful barn going to ruin.

The creek is swollen from the rain.
Pretty to hear the laughing water flowing over the little dams. A bright red Dogwood bush gives a splash of colour.

On the other side there is a reflection of the sky and the trees in the still area of water. The once colourful leaves are all on the ground making a brown carpet that crunches when you walk on it if it is dry.

Down the road we pass my favorite farm in the area. The new owners have worked hard to bring this back to it's prior splendor and beyond. Look what they have done with the barn! There are two Christmas trees in front of the red barn which light up at night.

Of course these are my favorite cows! These are Black Angus. King of cows. The skies are getting lighter and I even had a bit of sun for this shot.

Across the road, the unharvested corn glows in the new bit of sunlight.

The sky is showing the breaks of blue sky through the storm clouds. Normally I see the horses in here.

Whoa! What are you doing here gorgeous?

I have never seen horses lying down, three together before. Their backs are to the wind to keep warm. They are not happy with the rain and the cooler air today!

The donkey doesn't seem to mind the horse company. In fact he faced his backside to them, ignoring them entirely. A small itch disturbed his disdain.

A noise in the bush brings my attention to this shy little fellow. Peering out from behind the tree trunk he chatters to let me know I am trespassing. Squirrels are very possessive of their property.

We have great White Pine trees in this area. In fact are known for them. In the old days there were many wood mills around to process these stately trees.

The sky is clearing, another beautiful November Day has emerged.

Autumn is wearing the last of it's colourful finery. This sunset last night started out with a hint of pink on a very cool night.

Soon it was more than a hint! Lavender, pink with a brush stroke of peach.

As the clouds moved in it became brilliant. Cotton candy sky but with the warning of rain by the cold grey clouds below.

SkyWatch Friday
I was bored and had a few hours, so off I went for a drive. I came across this lovely little lake on a back road and drove past it. Then, it registered how lovely the sky looked, in it's pale autumn blue and how wonderfully the water shimmered with light! I turned around and got the photo.

All that follow or read my posts probably now by now that I love reflections! Here the blue sky is displayed only by the water although the sky itself looks dull.

SkyWatch Friday

I have always stated my fondness for reflections before. It's like getting two pictures in one!  This was taken in Belleville, Ontario. They have done a massive amount of work at the water front on the river.

Emerald lily pads look like they are awaiting the gift of a " Frog Prince". Cool grey limestone, cut from a local quarry, reflects beside the pale blue of the evening sky.

This was taken in Holland. I liked the loneliness of the deserted out door cafe. A surprise rain had swept through leaving the air chilly and damp. Everyone moved inside to enjoy the display of the setting sun .

I traveled all over Canada in my past employment. I consulted at many Cement Plants. Dirty, dusty places, all of them. One plant in particular had made a point of trying to look attractive on the outside. As you drove into the plant which was built in an old limestone quarry, they had built the road around two little lakes that had been born when the quarry flooded. The lakes were clean and clear looking and definitely inviting to look at. Especially when your option was the plant behind it.  These swans were actually owned by the company. Every winter the would go into a warm hut and were brought back out in the spring. They would socialize with the geese, ducks and other waterfowl that would  come to mate and nest. Swans mate for life.

Here the reflection of the plant in one part of the lake. You can see the lime stone cliffs all around. They colour of the day here is always grey.

Sitting out on a warm rock in the middle of a forest with a musical river below and you have the recipe for peace.

So it is Friday once again! This summer is just flying by and we have hardly seen any summer. Now the readers out there are probably getting tired of my bellyaching about all the rain and cooler (about 10-15 degrees Celsius cooler) than normal temperatures but we live in a climate where we don't see a lot of warmth, only for 4-5 months of the year, May, June, July, and August. September can be warm but no guarantees there and the way things are going this year I rather doubt it. So you see summer is almost gone and 80% was wet and cool. Soon the winds will be colder, the snow will start to fly and cover my world in white. Well, in late October, early November the snow will begin. But that is too soon when we don't have a scorching hot summer to complain about and wish for a little coolness in out lives! C'est le vie! Such is Life!So to at least celebrate life I bring you SkyWatch Friday Photos!

This is an old mill in Rockwood, a town not far from here. On a spring walk I noticed the very blue sky that day is reflected in the water. Coupled with the bleached white of the old limestone and the green lawn behind I found this quite attractive.
The Town of St. Mary's is a striking little town full of beautiful old stone homes and buildings. This limestone structure across the water and the reflection of it in the water caught my eye. It was a beautiful day and the blue green waters were still.

I taught courses all over Canada. This motel I was staying at which was out in the country, had lovely grounds. I love the making of stars in the water and the clouds seemed to center just right for me to take a pic!

While driving down a back country road this scene stopped me in my tracks. I just had to get a photo of the proverbial white picket fence.

It has been a bad year for farmers trying to get a couple of dry days in a row to harvest hay and straw for the animals.

This was taken on one of my many forays out into the country back roads . This is called Grand View Rd. I think it is obvious why! This a view of Toronto from afar. If you enlarge it you can see the CN Tower in the city.

Very soon here it will be Autumn. I took this last year while walking in the forest. The sky is reflected in the water and the shadow of the small tree above shows the colourful fall leaves already fallen

Following closely behind will be winter with skies so blue after blanketing us with snow!

Brr.... I think I will end on that note and head on outside. Although a cooler summer it is still a lot warmer that that! Not much time left to enjoy. Please go to SkyWatch Friday Blog to see other wonderful posts and hosts!
